Como dijo Walter Block en un artículo suyo, Manual básico del empleo y desempleo : "...en Florida, a una mujer que cocinaba alimentos para indigentes, se le clausuró el local por no tener la licencia de restaurante".

Ahora han ido ya por el camino directo. Cuidado no lo lea el alcalde de Barcelona, Joan Clos, que también lo aplicará con su nueva ley (in)civica...

A mi me parece que un ayuntamiento es una unidad de gobierno lo suficientemente pequeña como para, si una gran mayoría de sus ciudadanos están de acuerdo, aplicar este tipo de leyes. No estaría de acuerdo si fuese una ley estatal, pero al ser una ley local debes tener en cuenta que se trata de algo relativamente cercano al ciudadano y que más que limitar libertades, protege la de la mayoría de los vecinos de disfrutar de su ciudad.

Imagina un par de casos:

Yo vivo en una comunidad de vecinos de estas que tanto abundan ahora, con 8 o 10 bloques de pisos compartiendo un jardín común y una piscina. Imagina que entre todos los que aquí vivimos a una señora le da por dar de comer a los indigentes en este patio atrayendo a los de toda la ciudad. Crees que prohibirselo para que nuestros hijos puedan disfrutar de la piscina es restringir su libertad? no crees que esta prohibición sería legítima? cuando tu vas a vivir a una comunidad o a una determinada ciudad debes tener en cuenta que tipo de gente vive allí y que tipo de cosas podrás o no hacer.

Ahora ponte en el lugar de un comerciante de los muchos que hay en las vegas, que de buenas a primeras se encuentra con que le instalan una mobile soup kitchen en el parque de enfrente llenandole el barrio de indigentes que arruinan la imagen de su negocio y la seguridad de la zona. Las vegas es una ciudad que vive del turismo y no veo por que sus ciudadanos tengan que permitir que cuatro progres repartan sopa en sus parques si no quieren.

Lo podrían hacer fuera de la ciudad con similares resultados para los homeless y sin necesidad de molestar a los vecinos, o ir a los propio barrios deprimidos de las ciudades de las que vienen a hacerlo.

Lo dicho, imagina tu portal lleno de mendigos a los que tu vecina da de comer y replanteate tu postura.
