Howard incrementa el gasto sanitario en Australia

John Howard, Australia's prime minister, has agreed a national reform agenda with state premiers and territory leaders that includes initiatives to streamline infrastructure regulations and improve healthcare.

The A$1.1bn ($815m) national health reform package was the centrepiece of commitments made in Canberra at a meeting of the Council of Australian Governments. The meeting also agreed that trade qualifications should be recognised nationally.

In a bid to address the national shortage of doctors, Mr Howard announced a 25 per cent increase in federal government-funded university places for medicalstudents
